Joe Walsh to Run as Libertarian in 2020 If Trump Fails to Advance Freedom

West Palm Beach, Fla. — Former congressman Joe Walsh (R-IL) said he will run for president in 2020 as a Libertarian if Donald Trump fails to “advance freedom,” according to attendees at a conservative conference Saturday.

“If Donald Trump doesn’t advance freedom over the next 4 years, I’m running for president as the Libertarian candidate,” he said.

Walsh, who represented Illinois’s 8th district in Congress from 2011 to 2013, is now a nationally syndicated radio host who regularly engages with his audience on Twitter. During the election, he supported Trump.

While he has not made any subsequent comments following his speech, he has retweeted the two tweets above.
